About eShed

Here you can find out how to get involved in all sorts of film and media activities, from local events to national competitions. Check out our news page, calendar, or sign up as a member for loads of information on film and media stuff for young people. You can also watch films made by young people on our films page or read reviews of films and other media on our reviews page.

If you want to get involved, email us or sign up as a member to get VIP access to eShed.net and receive regular e-newsletters, send us your films and reviews, or post your comments on the forum.

Shedloads

Our “Shedloads” events give you a chance to do film-related activities with other young people. Keep an eye on the news page, calendar or sign up as a member to receive email updates of what’s coming up.

Got an idea for a Shedloads event? Let us know - maybe we can make it happen.

The history of eShed

eShed.net is bought to you in partnership with Watershed Media Centre, Connexions West of England and City of Bristol College.

These organisations asked “Where do young people go in Bristol if they want to get involved in film and media, and how do they find out what’s going on?” This was way back in 2006.

After lots of discussions with young people we came up with the idea of eShed.net - a virtual place where young people could go to find out about film and media activities in and around Bristol. Working alongside designer Simon Johnson, a group of committed young people decided what eShed.net should look like and what it should do. This group of young people formed eShed’s first steering group.

eShed.net was launched in April 2007.

Steering Group

eShed.net is run by a steering group of young people who attend weekly meetings at Watershed. These dedicated dudes and dudettes (themselves budding film and media types) make all the key decisions about the future of eShed.net and our regular “Shedloads” events.

We’re always on the lookout for more dedicated steering group members (some of our original team have gone on to college, uni, media traineeships and jobs in the creative media industries!) to work alongside our existing crew.

We’re also in need of eShed Ambassadors to help us spread the word about our wonderful site and our Shedloads events. Think you’ve got what it takes? Email us at info@eshed.net.

Visit our other sites: MySpace page and YouTube page.

Did you know?

eShed’s HQ - Watershed Media Centre - is based in two old warehouse buildings which were once used to store goods imported into Bristol from overseas. They were known as the “W Shed” and… “E Shed”!

Meet the current eShed team…

Usman

Hi my name’s Usman Ilyas. I’ve been a member of eShed for about 4 months now. I enjoy being here and watching the films young people come up with and try to show people around Bristol the talent. I enjoy writing films myself and one day I hope to see it on the big screen.

Jenna

Hi, I’m Jenna, eShed’s very own Digital Technological queen! Well, not really. I have been a member of eShed since about June 07. I love film-making and being a part of this group allows me to keep up to date with all the media opportunities that are happening in and around Bristol.

Lashana

Hi there. I’m Lashana and I am the co-ordinator for eShed.net. I have just finished my gap year. I was going to study Broadcasting at college, but instead I have been inspired to work within my community and with young people. This is why I chose to work with the eShed team. It is a wonderful experience that I would encourage anyone to be part of.

Patch

I am currently doing a media course at College Green and make films in my spare time at my local media club.

Sabrina

I am good at working with others and enjoy working with computers. I am currently helping members of eShed with the project.

Taz

I’m a film-maker and musician and I’ve been with eShed since the beginning. The work I do is varied: from uploading content to the web site to maintaining eShed’s other sites on MySpace and YouTube. I’m also an excellent editor, and I put together eShed’s short “Restraints”.

Hi I’m Noel and I’m eShed’s Project Manager. I wish something like eShed had been around in my youth because I really wanted to get involved in film and media.

Now young aspiring film-makers have eShed.net to help them find out how to get involved and that’s why I like being part of this project.

I’m also a Media Engagement worker with Connexions and work with lots of young people on all sorts of film and media projects.

Danny

Danny works with young people at City of Bristol College, and adds an extra educational element to eShed.

He’s also a rather good graphic artist, and some of his work can be seen on BristolStories.org.

I work at Watershed, getting multimedia files onto their web sites. The eShed guys asked me to make some changes to eShed.net, then some more, and now I’ve ended up totally rebuilding it, which was an exciting challenge.

I now seem to have acquired the name “the caretaker”.
