PREVIEW- ‘Le Donk And Scor- Zay- Zee’

Watershed is delighted to welcome back award-winning British actor and filmmaker Paddy Considine to Bristol for a special preview of Le Donk and Scor-Zay-Zee, his latest film with long time collaborator Shane Meadows (This is England, Somers Town, Dead Man’s Shoes.) Reuniting for the first time since the critically acclaimed Dead Man’s Shoes (2004), “the unlikely lads of British film,” first met at Burton College, on a performing arts course where they formed indie band, She Talks to Angels, undoubtedly one of the sources of inspiration for this rock mockumentary.
Famously made in just five days, this ultra-low-budget feature is the hilarious result of an unscripted short film mutated into a feature starring Sheffield’s finest the Arctic Monkeys, aka 'Arctical Monkeys', as Considine's roadie and failed musician "Le Donk" refers to them in the film. A fabulous mix of fact and fiction, made up of improvised routines, with Shane Meadows playing a larger than life version of himself, a documentary filmmaker who films the blustering has-been ex roadie roadie/manager Le Donk, (Paddy Considine) documenting his attempts to secure his lodger and white rapping protégé Scor-Zay-Zee his moment on stage at a 50,000-strong 'Monkeys gig. The resulting scenes, filmed at the actual Arctic Monkeys gig in Old Trafford have to be some of the best improvisations ever caught on camera.
After the preview screening, presented in partnership with BAFTA and South West Screen, the star of A Room for Romeo Brass, Dead Man’s Shoes, My Summer of Love and Hot Fuzz will be taking your questions alongside real-life rapper Scor-Zay-Zee, who hails from Meadows's home town, Nottingham.
This month’s Shedloads film club is a very special evening with Paddy Considine (A Room for Romeo Brass, Dead Man’s Shoes, My Summer of Love, Hot Fuzz) and real life rapper Scor-Zay-Zee. A bunch of eShedders interviewed him last November when he came to visit Watershed. You can check out the interview on our film archive.
They’ll be taking part in a Q&A after a preview screening of their new film Le Donk and Scor-Zay-Zee (15) so come along with your questions!
If you’re between 14 and 21 and not already an eShedder, follow this link to find out more about Shedloads events and to register as a member. Fee: £2.50 (with password).
This event forms part of BAFTA’s learning and events programme which aims to give you access behind the scenes of your favourite films, TV programmes and video games. For more information, go to www.bafta.org/accessallareas
